Reality masters second WH Stayers' Million qualifier
Master Of Reality in the hands of Wayne Lordan put up a gutsy performance to land the Sequence Events Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan yesterday, the second qualifier for the 2019 WH Stayers' Million.
Two furlongs from home both Mustajeer and Southern France laid down strong challenges to the son of Frankel, trained by Jospeh O'Brien for Lloyd and Nick Williams, but Master Of Reality battled back well inside the final furlong, dug deep, and got up by a neck to land the prize.
Joseph O'Brien, whilst admitting to being a little surprised by the result, said: "He had good form in France before he came to us, but I thought he would need the run. We will train him for an Ascot Gold Cup now. He stays and he's going to come on a bit for the run."
Master of Reality joins Cross Counter as a winner of a Weatherbys Hamilton Stayers' Million qualifier. Next up is the Longines Sagaro Stakes at Ascot this Wednesday.
