Private shoots are notoriously expensive to run and the income derived from letting the odd day commercially is often an important factor in justifying the expense.

Alternatively a fully fledged commercial shoot can be an important income stream in its own right. Whatever the circumstances, protecting income against cancellation or disruption because the weather renders a shoot unsafe or impossible to stage on the day, is an important consideration.
