Trustee Indemnity

Trustee Indemnity

Many trustees give their time for free and are often family friends. However, their responsibility in law to the beneficiaries of a settlement or trust is very real and does give them personal liability if it can be demonstrated that there has been a breach of trust.

There is obviously particular scope for argument where assets are diverse and beneficiaries are extensive or remote. It is strongly recommended that trustees protect themselves personally and that insurance is arranged.
